STEM Education
HYPE understands the need to empower youth with the tools to succeed in life, especially those that may not have access to education. This includes foster children, impoverished children, and those with under-resourced schools. As such, HYPE has collaborated with a number of partners and stakeholders to promote education. Namely, HYPE has partnered with the Georgia Department of Education and Forsyth Virtual Academy to help expand STEM education to rural counties in Georgia, through virtual courses and a peer-led tutoring network. This work has been supplemented with in-person events, where HYPE’s volunteers have conducted several interactive workshops to help immerse children in hands-on STEM experiments.

Synthetic Biology Camp
Some of HYPE’s leaders have worked to promote HYPE’s mission of education in other realms, with STEM education being the main focus for them. As such, HYPE’s leaders were able to host a summer camp for younger students for synthetic biology education. By immersing students in the world of synthetic biology research by teaching them hands-on skills (such as pipetting, gel electrophoresis, etc.), HYPE was able to teach 200 students in a hybrid-style camp. Roughly $100 of resources/equipment was spent per student, amounting to $20,000 of subsidized education.

Tutoring
In addition to STEM education, HYPE has facilitated almost $3000 of free tutoring for struggling students that lack access to educational resources. In partnership with organizations like LearnToBe, HYPE has amassed a network of over 50 tutors across the world that virtually mentor students in core subjects like math, biology, social studies, etc. For privacy purposes, pictures of the tutoring sessions cannot be published, but our organization will continue to work with LearnToBe and other organizations to mentor students that require educational assistance
United Nations Summit
HYPE aims to spread its mission for youth education beyond the local community. As such, in partnership with the Ariel Foundation, which has special status with the United Nations, HYPE is currently organizing a United Nations Summit regarding youth education. By delivering presentations on its work thus far and how HYPE plans to proceed, the organization’s leaders hope to facilitate an international shift, emphasizing the need for coalitions to focus on providing educational opportunities for impoverished children.
Debate Education
In addition to focusing on helping educate the youth on STEM topics, HYPE felt it was important to emphasize humanities-centric fields as well. Chief among them was communication; HYPE wanted to nurture the growth of students to help them find their voice. As such, HYPE’s leaders partnered with Socratic Speaking Academy to tutor 10 students over a 10 week duration on the fundamental principles of debate and communication. Through engaging drills and seminars, we subsidized approximatelt $2,500 of education to help students become better communicators. Aside from the formalized partnership, many of HYPE’s leaders have mentored under-resourced students, whether it be indepepdently or through organizations like The Debate Group. All in all, HYPE’s leaders have logged 250 hours, or $7,500 of free debate tutoring to students

Not only have HYPE’s leaders helped coach students in debate, but they have also served as free judges, especially in Urban Debate Leagues, which are primarily for students from impoverished backgrounds in metropolitan areas. In order to enter debate tournaments, there is frequently a requirement that mandates students to Many of HYPE’s leaders have dedicated entire weekends to judging for these students at state and national level debate tournaments, providing $3,150 (26 rounds) worth of free judging to support these students. Shown below are the judging records for just two of our leaders.
